Functional Bodybuilding

Want to look good and move well? Functional Bodybuilding is an approach to training that can be used a little or a lot to increase strength, correct imbalances, improve movement quality, and help you gain comfort and confidence in a variety of positions. Below are some options and resources for learning more.

  1. Functional Bodybuilding 101 is an online course giving an overview of training principles, created by Marcus Filly and his coach Mike Lee. This is a great introduction to the philosophy behind Awaken Training Series and the programming that individual design clients experience at Revival Strength.
  2. Awaken Training Series is a 12-week progressive training program using Functional Bodybuilding principles. This is an online group program that builds on itself – start with the 1.0 program if you are new to the series for 5 workouts per week plus 2 days of rest day assignments covering tips for mindset, lifestyle, nutrition, and more. Next registration opens January 2018.
  3. Individual Design (remote or onsite in San Rafael, CA) will have you working one on one with a Revival Strength coach to get a program specifically tailored for your needs and the way you like to train. Look no more for accountability or a crew of people providing training, nutrition, and life coaching (who never talk to each other) – our caring, hands-on coaches provide everything you need to reach your goals in a safe, enjoyable way.
  4. Or if you’re just getting started, use the free resources below to help with applying functional bodybuilding to a variety of movements – these tips are sent to our email list first, so sign up and you’ll also get a free three-day sample of Awaken Training Series.
