I’m Back after a long absence. I’ve spent most of the last 10 days traveling and out of the country. I felt the need to unplug from the world for a bit and I’m glad I did. Now I’m back into a normal flow of life and ready to share some recent competition highlights. This past weekend I participated in a weekend event that was full of fun.
OPTathlon 3.0 was a 1 day competition that had 6 different events. You can find those event details here. I competed in this event last year and this is how things changed.
Event 1 – 315lb Clean and jerk (last year 305lbs)
Event 2 – 36′ 9″ (last year 36′ 5″)
Event 3 – 2:59.5 combined 1K (last year 2:59.6)
Event 4 – Wild Card event – placed 1st (last year placed 3rd)
Event 5 – 39′ Shot Toss (last year 36’6″)
Event 6 – 12:22 3k Run (last year 12:24 – of note I felt so much better this year, i was in control and ran so well)
It was an amazing day not because of the results but because of the people that I shared the day with. Great bonding time with my girlfriend Megan who made the trip with me and competed herself. So proud of her for facing her fears and competing in front of so many people she didn’t know. And she did great. I feel closer to all the Big Dawgs that were there. It is an amazing community of athletes and coaches that want something similar out of this sport and lifestyle. At the end of the day I finished in 7th place among a very tough field of competitors. The athletes that I was in the company of this weekend are the guys that I look up to and respect most in the sport of fitness. Here are the video highlights
