PR’s, Close PR’s, and Some Grunt Work

The weekend is coming to an end. Some of the highlights.

– Megan survived a very bad cold. Bed ridden and more kleenex used than I’ve ever seen. She is on the mend folks. Look out!
– Megz and I made a late evening trip to Swirl this weekend. Dolche de leche cured her cold I’m pretty sure. Every once in a while you gotta have a treat.
– We purchased a couch. Like a halfway nice one. It is being delivered soon. No more watching TV on the floor. Yay!
– I fell down. Hard. In the kitchen. Slipper got caught on the rug and I went superman style across the floor. Megz looked at me and said “Are you serious, did that just happen.” The answer is, YES! Then she asks me how are you not more injured to which I replied, “I can clean 325 pounds, kitchen floor aint gonna beat me.”
– Got to watch some of our athletes from TJ’s gym compete at the East Sac Throwdown. Very proud of their efforts. We will be practicing spear throwing soon I promise.

All in all a good weekend and I’m happy to have made it through less sick than I was before it started. Another good night sleep tonight and I’ll be ready for another great week of training and work.

Friday Training – Noon

A. Squat snatch; build to a max
– 120kg/265lbs
*New PR for me. Not the prettiest snatch ever but gaining more confidence at those heavier weights. Just need to trust myself a little more and settle into my squat with tighter shoulders. My right arm continues to want to bend and give me problems.

Saturday Training – Noon

A. Clean and jerk 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1; rest 2:30
255, 275, 295, 305, 315, 325
*miss jerk, easy clean… just soft on the lockout….pissed… this would have been a PR. Cleans felt very confident today. Started off a little forward on the 305, but figured it out and 325 has never felt that easy.

*Felt strong on this today. Kept moving. First 8mins felt really good. Final push on the airdyne was tough. Short consistent transitions on everything today. Felt like good pacing for Open Style workouts.
